Carrie has served adult refugees and at-risk immigrants in East Charlotte, North Carolina, for 14 years. She teaches English as a Second Language and the Bible to people from around the world. Her desire is to create a safe, diverse environment in an otherwise unsafe neighborhood by sharing the tenets of the gospel as revealed throughout Scripture. Nothing brings her greater joy than witnessing a grace-based community form among people of different races, religions, and genders, all united by understanding their identity as children of God through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus.
Carrie is especially passionate about working with pre-beginner and beginner learners who are non-literate in their native language. She finds great joy in providing educational opportunities to those who were unable to access them in their home countries due to gender barriers, poverty, or war. Her goal is to strengthen the family unit by helping adults unlock their potential in a safe, encouraging environment that fosters friendship, learning, and spiritual growth.
Carrie and her husband, Jim, have been married for 30 years. They have two married daughters and are joyfully anticipating the arrival of their first grandchild.
